Mumbai :- Speculations are rife over a potential political reconciliation between Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray ahead of the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
Sources suggest that behind-the-scenes discussions are taking place, with leaders from both factions exploring the possibility of an alliance to consolidate the Marathi vote bank. The BMC polls, considered a prestige battle for Mumbai’s political parties, could see a major shift if the estranged cousins decide to join forces.
While Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) has been vocal about opposition to the BJP-led state government, Raj Thackeray has also been critical of the ruling alliance in recent years. However, ideological differences and past conflicts between the two leaders remain key hurdles.
Political analysts believe that a Thackeray reunion could reshape Mumbai’s civic politics, especially with the BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena posing a strong challenge.
As talks progress, all eyes are on whether the Thackeray cousins will bury the hatchet for a united front in the upcoming BMC elections.
