Navi Mumbai: In a major crackdown on the drug trade, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Kalamboli Police has arrested a wanted drug supplier, Rajan Bala Rathod, and seized narcotics worth ₹15.83 lakh from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the ANC team laid a trap near the steel market area of Kalamboli on Sunday afternoon. The accused, who hails from Govandi in Mumbai, was caught red-handed with 1.8 kg of ganja and 30 grams of heroin.

Police said Rathod was a habitual offender and had been wanted in multiple cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Indian Penal Code. Eight criminal cases are already lodged against him in various police stations across Mumbai.

Senior Inspector Sandeep Nigde, who led the operation, said the arrest was a major success in the ongoing campaign to curb drug smuggling in Navi Mumbai. He added that similar operations will continue to dismantle the supply chain of narcotics in the region, especially ahead of the festive season.

The accused has been remanded in police custody, and further investigations are underway to trace his associates and the source of the seized drugs.
