Mumbai : Virar (East) Amid the ongoing Ganeshotsav celebrations, a shocking incident has occurred in Narangi, Virar East, where a portion of the four-storey Rambai Apartment collapsed, leading to a major tragedy.
According to officials, 12 families were residing in the building. So far, nine people have been rescued from the debris, out of which three have been declared dead. Authorities fear that nearly 20–25 residents may still be trapped under the rubble.
Concerns have been raised over the quality of construction, as buildings constructed merely 12–15 years ago are collapsing, putting lives at risk.
To intensify rescue operations, NDRF teams have deployed a dog squad to trace people stuck beneath the collapsed structure.
Meanwhile, local MLA Rajan Naik has demanded strict action against those responsible for the incident.
