A job posting allegedly offering an internship for just Rs 10 per month recently went viral on social media, causing widespread disbelief. The listing, supposedly from Mumbai-based startup Faclon Labs, described a Backend Developer Intern role with a monthly stipend of only Rs 10 and an unspecified duration.
The buzz started after X (formerly Twitter) user Aditya Jha posted a screenshot of the internship, captioning it “Internship opportunity.” Social media users quickly expressed outrage and disbelief over the compensation, sparking a wave of criticism online.
However, the truth behind the viral post has since come to light.
According to Manoj Kumar, a software engineer who addressed the issue on LinkedIn, the listing was incorrect due to a data error. He stated that Faclon Labs clarified the actual stipend offered is Rs 10,000 per month, and not the absurd Rs 10 that was initially shown.
Faclon Labs explained that the incorrect information was the result of a bot error on job platform Naukri.com, which pulled faulty data into the listing. The company emphasized that the internship is legitimate and includes a pathway to full-time employment.
While the situation was ultimately a misunderstanding, it drew attention to the importance of accuracy in job postings and how quickly misinformation can spread online—often at the expense of a company’s reputation.
