Mumbai, October 18: A shocking case of alleged negligence has emerged from Lokhandwala, Andheri (West), where two young girls were reportedly served alcohol at HOPS Kitchen & Bar, also known as All Spice Kitchen & Bar, leading to their hospitalization.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred late Thursday night when two girls — aged 16 and 21 — visited the popular suburban bar. Staff members allegedly served them vodka without checking their age or asking for identification.
Soon after consuming the drinks, both began feeling uneasy and were rushed to Cooper Hospital. Doctors later confirmed that the girls were under the influence of alcohol when admitted. Their names have been withheld for privacy, though they are being referred to as Neha (16) and Nisha (21).
The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Oshiwara Police Station, which has begun an inquiry into the bar’s alleged violation of excise and licensing laws. Officers are expected to examine CCTV footage, verify staff involvement, and review the establishment’s permits.
Local residents and activists have expressed outrage, demanding strict action against the management. “This is a clear case of negligence and disregard for the law. Serving liquor to minors cannot be tolerated,” said a resident of Lokhandwala.
Authorities have indicated that if the allegations are substantiated, the bar’s operators could face serious legal consequences under the Bombay Prohibition Act and Juvenile Protection Laws.
The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns about suburban bars and pubs in Mumbai allegedly bypassing age-verification norms, putting young lives at risk in pursuit of profit.
