In a shocking incident that has left residents of Navi Mumbai’s Ulwe in disbelief, a 27-year-old woman was brutally murdered late Sunday night just meters away from her home. The victim, identified as Alvina Kishorsingh alias Alvina Adamli Khan, was attacked and fatally stabbed in the throat by an unidentified assailant.

Khan, a resident of Vijay Laxmi Tower in Ulwe Sector-5, had been married for four years to Kishorsingh Rajput. The couple jointly ran a medical store in the locality. Both pharmacy graduates—Khan held a B Pharm degree while Rajput was a D Pharm—were known among locals as co-owners of the establishment.

According to police reports, Khan had been visiting relatives in Mumbai on Sunday and was returning home around 11:45 PM. After getting off on the main road of Sector-5, she began walking the short 50-meter distance to her residence. It was at this point—near the Radiance Splendor Building—that she was confronted by a man, reportedly trailing her, who attacked her with a sharp weapon and slit her throat.

“She collapsed on the spot with grievous injuries. The accused fled immediately after the attack,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Port Zone), Vishal Nehul. Local residents, alerted by the commotion, rushed to her aid, but she succumbed to her injuries within minutes.

The Ulwe Police arrived promptly and took possession of the body. Preliminary accounts suggest that the assailant had covered his face with a handkerchief to conceal his identity. A case of murder has been registered, and police are currently scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity in a bid to trace the suspect.

Investigators revealed that while the couple had a love marriage, they were reportedly going through a rough patch and were considering a divorce. A male friend of the deceased has been detained for questioning.

The motive behind the crime remains unclear, and the police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
