Mumbai :- The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo moto cognizance of the controversial content from Ullu App’s latest show House Arrest, summoning CEO Vibhu Agarwal and actor-operator Ajaz Khan for a hearing on May 9.
The decision came after a clip from the show went viral, sparking outrage for allegedly promoting vulgar and demeaning conversations toward women. In the controversial segment, a female participant was reportedly subjected to inappropriate and sexually suggestive remarks.
The NCW, in its notice, stated, “Such objectionable content undermines women’s dignity and encourages harassment. If found obscene, legal action will be initiated under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the IT Act.”
The show, operated by Ajaz Khan, has drawn sharp criticism on social media, with users condemning its content as exploitative. The NCW’s intervention follows widespread backlash, with demands for stricter regulation of digital platforms producing such material.
Further action will be determined after the hearing on May 9.
