Two men lost their lives in the early hours of Friday after their motorcycle rammed into a parked tempo near the Ram Nagar Subway on the Western Express Highway (WEH) in Mumbai’s Vile Parle area, police said.
The victims, identified as Tushar Khandagale (25) and Chirag Nair (20), were residents of Andheri and employed at a five-star hotel in Goregaon. At the time of the incident, they were returning home from Bandra.
According to officials from the Vile Parle Police Station, the motorcycle collided with a stationary tempo that had been parked without any indicator lights or warning signs to alert approaching vehicles. The accident occurred around 4:30 am.
Both men suffered severe injuries in the crash. Local residents and police rushed them to Cooper Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
A police officer confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — Sections 106(1) and 285 — along with Sections 132(1)(C), 119, and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The tempo driver, identified as Arvind Kumar Yadav, has been booked.
The investigation is being led by Inspector Shabana Mulani under the supervision of Police Inspector Rahul Sonawane, in charge of Vile Parle Police Station.
