In a shocking incident that has cast a shadow over the sanctity of friendship, a woman in Pune’s Ambegaon area betrayed her close friend by drugging her and stealing gold jewelry worth over ₹5.46 lakh.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on March 6 around 4 PM at the Emrald Society near Sinhgad College. The complainant was at her home when her friend, Aishwarya Sanjay Garad (25), visited, bringing along cold coffee. Without suspecting anything, the complainant consumed the coffee offered by her friend.
Unbeknownst to her, Aishwarya had allegedly laced the beverage with sedatives. Soon after consuming it, the woman fell unconscious. Taking advantage of the situation, Aishwarya reportedly accessed the bedroom, opened a drawer, and stole gold jewelry valued at ₹5,46,000 before fleeing the scene.
The complainant regained consciousness some time later and realized the theft had taken place. Upon confronting her friend, Aishwarya confessed to the crime and initially promised to return the stolen items. However, after repeated follow-ups and no action, the victim lodged a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station.
Following an investigation, police arrested Aishwarya, and further inquiries into the case are ongoing. The incident has caused a wave of disbelief, highlighting how trust and friendship can sometimes be exploited for personal gain.
