Mumbai, June 3 — A 38-year-old man, identified as Deepak Joshi, died by suicide on Monday after jumping from the third floor inside R City Mall, Ghatkopar. The incident took place around 11:30 AM in the main atrium, leaving mallgoers shocked and distressed.
Eyewitnesses described the sound of a loud thud, followed by panic as Joshi was found motionless in a pool of blood. He was declared dead on the spot due to severe head injuries.
Joshi was a resident of Barotwadi on Kama Lane, living with his wife and parents. His son is currently studying in Kutch and was not present at the time. According to police sources, Joshi had been battling mental health issues for years and had reportedly attempted suicide in the past. He also had a history of financial troubles and was previously booked in a counterfeit currency case nearly a decade ago.
Parksite Police have registered an accidental death report and are reviewing CCTV footage to understand the exact sequence of events. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Authorities urge the public to seek help if facing emotional distress. “Mental health needs attention, and help is always available,” said a senior officer at the scene.
