Mumbai : The much-awaited Thane Metro project is set to roll out in stages, with the first phase expected to begin operations by December 2025 and the entire network ready by 2027.
The project, part of Metro Lines 4 and 4A connecting Wadala–Ghatkopar–Mulund–Kasarvadavali–Gaimukh, spans 35.20 km with 32 stations at an estimated cost of ₹15,498 crore. Once fully operational, the metro is projected to carry over 2.1 million passengers daily.
Phase 1 (Gaimukh–Cadbury Junction, 10.5 km, 10 stations): Four stations will open by December 2025, and the remaining six by April 2026.
Phase 2 (Cadbury Junction–Gandhi Nagar, 11 km, 11 stations): Expected to be operational by October 2026.
Phase 3 (Gandhi Nagar–Wadala, 12 km): Scheduled for completion by October 2027.
Officials said the metro will cut travel time by 50–75%, providing a modern, safe, and eco-friendly transport option. Once complete, the Thane Metro will stand as one of India’s largest and most advanced metro corridors.
