Tamil Nadu Film Set Tragedy: Stuntman S. Mohanraj Dies During Dangerous Car Stunt

Mumbai : In a tragic incident on the set of the Tamil film Vettuvam, experienced stuntman S. Mohanraj, also known as SM Raju, lost his life while performing a high-risk stunt. The accident took place on July 13 in Vilunthamavadi village, near Velankanni in Tamil Nadu’s Nagapattinam district.

Mohanraj, 52, was executing a stunt involving a moving car when he reportedly lost his balance after jumping from the vehicle. He slipped and fell, later complaining of severe chest pain. Despite being rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Nagapattinam, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The film Vettuvam is directed by Pa. Ranjith and stars Arya, with shooting underway since July 10. A video of the fatal accident has gone viral, raising serious questions about safety measures on film sets.

Actor Vishal expressed deep sorrow over the incident and has pledged lifetime support to Mohanraj’s family.

Meanwhile, Keelaiyur police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause and any possible negligence.
