Afghan security forces launched heavy attacks on Pakistani Army posts along the Durand Line late Saturday night, in what the Taliban described as a retaliatory operation.
According to a statement by the Afghan Taliban, the strikes were carried out in response to alleged attacks by Pakistani forces on Afghan territory. The Taliban said that the Afghanistan National Islamic Army conducted coordinated assaults across eastern and southeastern regions near the border.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that at least 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed during the cross-border clashes. The situation has heightened tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, with the Taliban warning of further action if “violations” by Pakistan continue.
