Mumbai: Sunita Ahuja, wife of veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, has officially moved the Bandra Family Court seeking divorce under Section 13(1)(i), (ia), and (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. In her petition, she has accused the actor of adultery, cruelty, and desertion.
Court records show that Govinda was summoned on May 25 but has not attended the proceedings so far, while Sunita has been regularly present. Reports suggest reconciliation efforts have been underway since June, though with little progress.
Breaking her silence on the issue, Sunita addressed the controversy in a YouTube vlog after visiting Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi temple. In an emotional statement, she said she had always prayed for a happy marriage and two children, but admitted that “not all truths are easy to face.” She expressed her faith that Goddess Kaali would give her strength through the crisis.
Meanwhile, Govinda’s lawyer dismissed the reports as “old matters being revived” and reiterated that the actor has no intention of parting ways. Family friends also rejected the divorce claims, maintaining that Govinda “would never leave Sunita.”
Key Points:
Petition Filed: Recent filing; some reports trace proceedings back to late 2024.
Grounds: Adultery, cruelty, and desertion.
Court Attendance: Sunita attending hearings; Govinda mostly absent.
Reconciliation: Efforts since June, limited success.
Public Response: Sunita’s emotional vlog vs. Govinda’s camp denying split rumors.
