Thane : A horrific crime has come to light in Thane’s Mumbra area, where the body of a 10-year-old girl was found in the ventilation duct of a 10-storey residential building under suspicious circumstances. Investigations revealed that the minor was sexually assaulted and brutally murdered before being dumped. The Mumbra police have arrested a 20-year-old suspect in connection with the case.

The incident took place late on Monday night at Shraddha Pratik building in Samrat Nagar, Mumbra. Around 11:48 PM, residents were shocked to discover the girl’s body. The Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell was alerted, and police rushed to the scene. Initial reports suggest the victim was not a resident of the building, raising questions about how she entered the premises. According to *Times of India*, the girl was found in a semi-naked state.

The crime came to light when a first-floor resident went to check a loud noise after facing water supply issues. Upon opening a window, he spotted the girl’s lifeless body. Police launched an immediate investigation, questioning locals and searching nearby houses. Suspicion soon fell on a 20-year-old man, who later confessed to the crime during interrogation. The accused, originally from Bihar, lived in the same building.

As per police reports, the accused lured the girl into his home around 9:30 PM, promising her toys. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her before throwing her out of the bathroom window.
