Mumbai : A high-level Shiv Sena delegation met with the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi today, pressing for the linkage of voter IDs with Aadhaar numbers to enhance electoral transparency ahead of the upcoming Local Self-Government Elections.

The delegation—comprising Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant, Minister Shambhuraj Desai, MP Milind Deora, and former MP Rahul Shewale—held discussions with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.

The party also called for a detailed audit of the voter list to eliminate alleged Bangladeshi nationals from the rolls, particularly in metropolitan areas like Mumbai.

Minister Samant highlighted Shiv Sena’s support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative and conveyed the party’s stance under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

He denied any connection between the visit and the ongoing Supreme Court case regarding the party’s bow and arrow symbol, stating the focus was solely on electoral reforms and national interest.
