Mumbai: After MNS chief Raj Thackeray withdrew his protest against the lack of Marathi language use in banks across Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut took a subtle dig at him. In a sarcastic remark, Raut said, “To understand what Raj Thackeray does, where he goes, when he starts or ends a protest — you have to sit in a café. Once you know what’s going on there, everything becomes clear.”
Raj Thackeray had launched a state-wide agitation demanding the proper use of Marathi in banks, citing the neglect of the language in official banking services. However, within a few days, he called off the protest, surprising many.
Reacting to this, Raut indirectly criticized the move and hinted at it being a political drama. “We’ve seen these kinds of acts before. Everyone knows why the protest started and why it ended so quickly,” he added.
The sudden withdrawal has stirred discussions in the political sphere, with all eyes now on the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s next move.
