Mumbai : Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who has lived a life marked by dramatic highs and lows, revealed that nothing shook him more than being diagnosed with cancer. Speaking on a podcast with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, the Vaastav star recalled the frightening moment and the emotional storm that followed.
Dutt shared that during the lockdown, he suddenly found himself struggling to breathe even after walking a few steps. An x-ray revealed that his lungs were filled with fluid. While doctors initially suspected tuberculosis, further tests confirmed lung cancer.
“The news left me shaken. My sister came and told me. I accepted it but cried for two-three hours thinking about my kids, my wife, and my life. Then I decided I wouldn’t allow myself to get weak,” he said.
Though his family initially planned to take him to the US for treatment, his visa was denied. At that point, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan connected him with a trusted doctor in India. “They told me I’d lose hair, vomit, and lie in bed. I told the doctor, ‘Mereko kuch nahi hoga’—I won’t lose hair, I won’t vomit, and I won’t be bedridden,” Dutt recalled with determination.
The actor eventually fought through the illness and emerged cancer-free, crediting his family and friends for their unwavering support.
