Mumbai : Tension erupted at Mumbai’s Dadar Kabutarkhana on Sunday after a man placed grain on the roof of his car to feed pigeons, drawing objections from local residents concerned about public health hazards. The situation prompted the deployment of riot control police and BMC officials to the spot.

Shivaji Park Police registered an FIR against the accused, identified as Mahendra D. Sanklecha, a 55-year-old resident of Gazdar Street, Chirabazar. The complaint was filed by Sandesh Vikram Matarkar, a junior supervisor from BMC’s G-North ward.

In line with Bombay High Court orders and state government directives, a ban remains in place on feeding pigeons at the Kabutarkhana. To enforce this, the area has been barricaded with bamboo structures and covered with tarpaulin to prevent access.
