Tensions have flared again in Mira-Bhayandar after another Marathi-speaking man was reportedly assaulted, intensifying the ongoing language-based conflict in the region.
According to reports, the incident marks a repeat of previous attacks where individuals were allegedly targeted for using the Marathi language. This has prompted sharp reactions from the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), which has now issued a serious warning against such repeated assaults.
MES leaders stated that such incidents will no longer be tolerated and demanded immediate action from authorities. The group accused the local administration of failing to protect Marathi-speaking citizens and vowed to intensify their agitation if the attacks continued.
This development follows recent unrest over language identity in the region, with multiple protests, detentions, and political tensions unfolding in Mira-Bhayandar over the past few weeks.
The MES has urged the state government to intervene decisively and ensure the safety and dignity of Marathi-speaking residents.
