Mumbai: Local train services on Central Railway’s main line were disrupted on Tuesday morning after a rail fracture was detected between Vikhroli and Kanjurmarg stations at 7:32 am. The incident prompted immediate speed restrictions and diversion of services to ensure commuter safety.
Despite swift action by railway staff, trains were delayed by 10 to 20 minutes, impacting the morning commute of more than 35 lakh passengers. The Central Railway main line is a critical corridor linking South Mumbai with the eastern suburbs and nearby districts.
The disruption once again underscores the operational challenges faced by Mumbai’s suburban rail network, widely regarded as the city’s lifeline.
