PUNE | In a major breakthrough, Pune Police have arrested eight accused individuals in connection with the murder of Ayush Komkar, while five others remain absconding.

Additional Police Commissioner Pankaj Deshmukh confirmed that the main accused have been identified and warned that strict action will be taken against those who promote or support the Andekar gang on social media.

The investigation revealed that the original target was the family of Somnath Gaikwad, a prime accused in the Vanraj Andekar murder case. During questioning, accused Datta Kale disclosed that the Gaikwad family had been the intended target, but the ongoing gang rivalry led to Komkar’s killing instead.

Police clarified the roles of the accused: Yash Patil and Aman Pathan allegedly fired the shots, while Amit Patoale and Sujal Mergul supplied the weapons and carried out reconnaissance.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the five absconding accused — Krishna Andekar, Shubham Andekar, Abhishek Andekar, Laxmi Andekar, and Shivraj Andekar.
