Pune : Pune police have arrested five young men for posting threatening content on social media in support of the notorious Andekar gang. The individuals, aged between 18 and 20, allegedly uploaded videos and captions inciting violence, including statements like “Revenge is fixed; now count the bodies.”

The arrested youths—Manthan Bhalerao, Omkar Mergu, Harshal Pawar, Piyush Bidkar, and Atharva Nalawade—are residents of Nana Peth. They have been charged under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to public safety and mischief.

Following their arrest, the police paraded the accused through Nana Peth streets as a warning to others who might glorify criminal activities. Senior Police Inspector Umesh Gitte of Samarth Police Station emphasized that such acts would not be tolerated.

This action is part of a broader crackdown on the Andekar gang, which has included demolishing illegal structures linked to the gang, freezing assets worth over ₹18 crore, and arresting members involved in extortion and land-grabbing.

Authorities have urged citizens to report suspicious activities and warned that supporting criminals on social media could result in legal consequences. The investigation is ongoing, with the police reaffirming their commitment to maintaining public safety in Pune.
