A shocking incident in Pune has ignited widespread anger after a 59-year-old man was caught on camera urinating on a poster of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Shivsrushti, a heritage-themed park in Ambegaon Budruk dedicated to the Maratha warrior king.

The act took place around 3 a.m. on Saturday and was recorded by students from Sinhgad College. The footage shows Amol Arun Kulkarni, a resident of Dhayari, urinating on a signboard featuring the image of Shivaji Maharaj. A woman, believed to be his wife, was seen standing nearby during the incident.

The video quickly went viral on social media, triggering outrage across Maharashtra. Local students and members of the Maratha Seva Sangh confronted Kulkarni and turned him over to the authorities. The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police have since registered a case and detained both individuals.

Police are currently investigating the motive behind the act. Early reports indicate that Kulkarni may be suffering from mental health issues, and a psychological evaluation is underway.

Community leaders, Maratha organizations, and citizens have strongly condemned the act, calling it a grave insult to Maharashtra’s cultural pride. Demands for strict action and safeguards to prevent such incidents in the future have gained momentum.
