Mumbai :- The Mumbai Police have arrested a man from Pune for allegedly making obscene phone calls and sending inappropriate messages to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde.
According to police officials, the accused, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, had been harassing Munde for some time. The BJP leader filed a complaint with the Mumbai Cyber Crime Cell, following which an investigation was launched.
Using technical surveillance, the police traced the suspect to Pune and took him into custody. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
Pankaja Munde, a prominent BJP figure and daughter of late party stalwart Gopinath Munde, has not yet commented publicly on the incident. Further investigations are underway to determine if the accused had targeted other individuals as well.
This case highlights the growing concerns over cyber harassment and the misuse of digital platforms to intimidate public figures. Police have urged citizens to report such incidents promptly for swift action.
