Pune: Several citizens in Pune have fallen victim to a scam involving High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) applications. Fraudsters allegedly cheated people by posing as authorized dealers and collecting money for fake or overpriced number plates.
Authorities have warned residents to apply for HSRP plates only through official channels, such as the government-approved website or authorized vendors. Police are investigating the complaints, and action is expected against those involved in the fraudulent scheme.
HSRP plates are mandatory for vehicles in Maharashtra to curb theft and tampering. Citizens are advised to verify the authenticity of vendors before making payments.
