Pune, Oct 19 – In a heartwarming display of honesty, an auto-rickshaw driver from Pune’s Loni Kalbhor area set an inspiring example by returning a student’s forgotten laptop bag using Google Pay details to trace him.
The incident involved Artha Pimpre, an engineering student from MIT College, who had taken an auto from MIT Corner to Wagholi on Wednesday evening. After reaching his destination, Artha accidentally left his laptop bag in the rickshaw. Realizing his mistake moments later, he rushed back but couldn’t recall the rickshaw’s registration number.
In distress, Artha approached the Loni Kalbhor Police Station and lodged a complaint. Acting swiftly under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Panhale and Assistant Inspector Krishna Babar, the police began checking CCTV footage in the area.
Before the investigation could proceed further, Artha received surprising news — the rickshaw driver himself, identified as Mohan Ganpati Chandanshive, had reached out to him. Using the Google Pay transaction from the fare payment, Mohan traced Artha’s Instagram account with the help of a friend and contacted him to return the lost bag.
The laptop and all its contents were found intact. In recognition of his integrity, the Loni Kalbhor police felicitated Mohan Chandanshive for his honest gesture.
“Chandanshive’s act of honesty and humanity is a shining example for society,” said Inspector Rajendra Panhale. “At a time when stories of theft and fraud dominate headlines, this incident proves that goodness still thrives among us.”
