Mumbai: Police have re-arrested Rubina, who was originally booked under various sections of the BNS, Passport Act, and Foreigners Act at Vashi Police Station in Navi Mumbai. She was lodged in Byculla District Jail and was admitted to JJ Hospital on August 11 for treatment of fever, skin ailments, and pregnancy-related care, as she is five months pregnant.

On August 14, while being taken for a sonography test, Rubina requested to use the washroom and managed to escape from the hospital premises, evading the woman constable on duty. An immediate case under Section 262 of the BNS was registered at Sir JJ Marg Police Station.

Under the guidance of DCP Zone-1 Dr. Pravin Munde, ACP Tanveer Shaikh, and Senior PI Rais Shaikh, a special team led by PSI Prashant Nerkar launched a search operation. Officers disguised themselves, kept surveillance on her possible hideouts and workplaces for three days, and gathered intelligence through informants. Using technical inputs, police traced her and finally arrested her on August 18 from Navghar Ali Road, Talavali, Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai.

Senior Inspector Rais Shaikh confirmed that the accused has been taken back into custody and further investigation is underway.
