Mumbai : The Powai Police have lodged an FIR against an unidentified person for allegedly blackmailing a 23-year-old woman studying in Australia by using obscene photos.
According to officials, the accused created a fake Snapchat account in the victim’s mother’s name, complete with family details and photographs, to deceive her. Believing it to be genuine, the woman accepted the request.
On February 5, the impersonator began threatening her, claiming to have obscene pictures and warning he would make them public. Shocked and distressed, the victim contacted her mother in Mumbai, only to discover that the account was fake.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the accused.
