Mumbai – Powai Police have booked a candidate, Shubham Patil (28), for allegedly cheating in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) examination. The incident occurred on August 9 at the TCS iON Digital Zone (TIDZ) in Powai, where Patil reportedly tried to hide a mobile phone containing 17 photos of exam questions.

At around 9:40 am, exam supervisor Sonal Masurkar noticed a mobile-like object at Patil’s workstation. When questioned, Patil denied having a phone but appeared nervous. The device was later found in the bathroom dustbin, and Patil admitted ownership.

Police have charged him under the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and Other Specified Examinations Act, as well as Section 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (cheating).
