Mumbai : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the final phase of the Mumbai Metro-3 Aqua Line on September 30, opening the route from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced.
The 37-kilometre Aqua Line, Mumbai’s first fully underground metro corridor, consists of 27 stations, of which 26 are underground.
Earlier, the Aarey to Worli (22.5 km) section had been opened for public use. With the launch of this final 11-kilometre stretch, the entire line will now be operational.
Once fully functional, Metro-3 will cut travel time drastically, enabling commuters to reach from JVLR to Cuffe Parade in just about an hour, compared to more than two hours by road.
The route will provide seamless connectivity across major hubs like Colaba, Worli, Dadar, BKC, Santacruz, and CSMT, easing road congestion and improving access to key landmarks including hospitals, educational institutions, religious sites, and the international airport.
