A passenger aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from London Southend Airport on Monday afternoon, bursting into a massive fireball and prompting a large-scale emergency response.
According to Essex Police, authorities were alerted just before 4:00 PM about the crash involving a 12-metre plane. The aircraft is believed to have collided shortly after leaving the runway, resulting in a fiery explosion visible from nearby areas.
“We were alerted shortly before 4pm to reports of a collision involving one 12-metre plane,” police said in an official statement. “We are working with all emergency services at the scene now and that work will be ongoing for several hours. We would please ask the public to avoid this area where possible while this work continues.”

Four ambulances
One rapid response vehicle
Four Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) units

One air ambulance
