Mumbai, July 20 – Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on opposition parties, accusing them of attempting to erode Mumbai’s importance by shifting key industries and institutions to Gujarat.
Speaking to the media, Thackeray asserted, “Nobody can separate Mumbai from Maharashtra. Jo bhi karega, hum unke tukde karenge – I say this openly.” He emphasized that while he does not speak the language of division, Mumbai’s role as Maharashtra’s capital and India’s financial hub must not be diminished.
Thackeray questioned the shift of the diamond market, the film industry, and financial hubs from Mumbai, asking, “Who took these away? Was it me?” He criticized the prioritization of infrastructure projects like the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, alleging political bias.
In a related political development, Uddhav Thackeray, along with son Aaditya Thackeray and senior party leaders, met Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis at Vidhan Bhavan. The meeting, which lasted around 30 minutes, came a day after Fadnavis jokingly invited Thackeray to “come here” – a remark that has sparked fresh political speculation.
