Navi Mumbai : Navi Mumbai police and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have seized approximately 3.5 kg of methamphetamine—valued at a staggering ₹35 crore in the international market—from a Nigerian woman at Panvel Railway Station on July 18, 2025. The Bengaluru NCB team acted on precise intelligence, tracking the suspect aboard the Mangalā Express. Upon her arrival at Panvel, officers from the NCB and Railway Police detained her and recovered the contraband, which was concealed in her luggage.
Panvel Railway Police Deputy Commissioner Pradnya Jedge confirmed that the 30‑year‑old suspect, whose identity has not been released, was intercepted based on a tip-off about a Nigerian national transporting narcotics from Faridabad to Panvel. While official quantities are pending legal formalities, sources estimate around 3.5 kg seized.
The recovered drugs are currently secured by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The operation marks a significant win against organised drug trafficking through major rail routes, with NCB and Railway Police intensifying joint efforts to trace the broader criminal network, including the supply chain and intended recipients.
Further investigations are underway to determine the origins of the narcotics and connections to potential domestic or international drug syndicates.
