Mumbai : In a remarkable display of environmental consciousness, Mumbaikars have actively participated in the eco-friendly Ganeshotsav by immersing idols in artificial lakes across the city.
Between August 28 and midnight of August 29, a total of 60,434 Shri Ganesh idols were immersed, including 691 public idols, 59,706 household idols, and 37 Haritalika idols.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the immersion process was carried out smoothly without any untoward incidents.
The civic body has once again appealed to devotees to continue the practice of immersing idols in artificial lakes, ensuring a cleaner and greener Mumbai during the ongoing Ganesh festival.
