The police on Thursday confirmed the arrest of a 50-year-old woman wanted in a Rs 2.25 crore drug seizure case. Nilofer Sherali Cendole, who had been on the run for three months, was apprehended in Mumbai on Wednesday, according to a PTI report.
Officials from the Thane Police’s Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) nabbed Cendole in Vikhroli while she was travelling from Bandra to Mumbra. In February, the ANC had raided a flat in the Shil Daighar area of Thane, arresting three suspects — Ilyas Khan (19), Aman Kamal Khan (21), and Saif Khan (25) — and seizing MD (Mephedrone), a synthetic drug, valued at Rs 2.25 crore.
The flat where the drugs were recovered was linked to Cendole. Investigators claim the arrested trio were preparing to deliver the narcotics to her.
Following the raid, Cendole absconded but allegedly continued operating from the Bandra MHADA ground area. She has multiple cases registered against her, according to officials. Further investigation is underway.
