Mumbai Water Tanker Strike Called Off After BMC Assurances

Share:

Mumbai :- The Mumbai Water Tanker Association (MWTA) has called off its strike after receiving assurances from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The strike, which had raised concerns over water supply disruptions in several parts of the city, ended following negotiations between the tanker operators and civic officials.

The MWTA had launched the strike to protest against alleged harassment by BMC officials and delays in clearing pending payments. After discussions, the BMC reportedly agreed to address their grievances, leading to the strike’s withdrawal.

A BMC spokesperson stated, “We have resolved the issues amicably, and water tanker services will resume immediately.” Residents, who had feared shortages, welcomed the decision as normal water supply is expected to be restored soon.

The strike had particularly affected areas reliant on tankers, including some suburbs and construction sites. Authorities had earlier deployed emergency measures to mitigate the impact, but the resolution brings relief to the city.
