Mumbai : The Mumbai Water Tanker Association has decided to call off its strike today after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) agreed to withdraw its recent notice. The strike, which had raised concerns over water supply disruptions in parts of the city, is now expected to end, bringing relief to residents.

The BMC had issued a notice to the tanker operators, leading to protests and a halt in services. However, following discussions between the civic body and the Tanker Association, the BMC has decided to take back the notice, resolving the standoff.

Officials stated that the decision was made to avoid inconvenience to citizens, especially during peak summer months when water demand is high. The association has assured normal operations will resume immediately.

Mumbai relies heavily on water tankers to supply areas with inadequate pipeline infrastructure. The strike had threatened to worsen the city’s ongoing water shortages, making the resolution crucial for thousands of households.

Further details on the agreement between the BMC and the tanker operators are awaited.
