Mumbai : The city’s unpredictable weather—marked by high humidity, sudden rainfall, and fluctuating temperatures—has led to a sharp increase in viral infections, especially among children and the elderly.
Hospitals across Mumbai report treating 15–20 patients daily for fever, cold, cough, and body ache, with most cases seen in children under the age of 3. Medical experts also warn of a rise in dengue, chikungunya, and upper respiratory infections.
Doctors advise residents to stay hydrated, avoid exposure to rain, and seek medical help if symptoms persist beyond two days. Many recovering patients are also experiencing fatigue and weakness lasting several days post-recovery.
Experts attribute the surge to rapid virus transmission during warm and humid conditions following rainfall, which also triggers respiratory issues like bronchospasms and allergic reactions.
