Mumbai: In a major security upgrade for Ganeshotsav 2025, Mumbai Police will deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and drones for crowd surveillance and criminal monitoring during the 10-day festival.
Joint Police Commissioner (Law & Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary said that over 17,000 police personnel, including constables, officers, ACPs, and DCPs, will be on duty across the city. Security will also be reinforced with SRPF, RAF, riot control units, Home Guards, and volunteers from social organizations.
More than 11,000 CCTV cameras and plainclothes officers will monitor sensitive areas, while drones and quick response teams will provide additional vigilance. Iconic pandals such as Lalbaugcha Raja will receive special cover with bomb squads, dog squads, and over 500 policemen.
On the final immersion day, an extra 5,000 personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth crowd management, with special focus on women, children, and senior citizens.
Police have appealed to citizens to follow guidelines, avoid leaving unattended belongings, and cooperate with authorities. For emergencies, helplines 100 and 112 will remain active round the clock.
