Mumbai : The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has unveiled the first official images of the upcoming Dharavi Metro Station, a pivotal stop on the ambitious Aqua Line 3 (Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ corridor) . Constructed using the cut‑and‑cover technique along the banks of the Mithi River, the station’s development overcame significant hurdles—including land acquisition disputes, traffic management, and the shifting of underground utilities .
The newly released visuals highlight the station’s modern design, featuring elevators, spacious corridors, and a streamlined ticketing zone. These elements reflect cutting-edge infrastructure tailored to deliver a comfortable commuter experience in one of Asia’s most densely populated neighborhoods .
Officials confirm that trial runs across the 9.77‑km stretch between Dharavi and Acharya Atre Chowk—part of Phase 2A of Line 3—were recently completed, and services are expected to begin in March 2025, pending safety certification by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety . The full extension of Aqua Line 3 to Cuffe Parade is anticipated to be operational by mid‑2025 .
Once fully functional, Line 3 will span 33.5 km underground, featuring 27 stations and connecting major nodes like Colaba, BKC, JVLR, Aarey, and Dadar, while serving over 1.7 million commuters daily .
