Mumbai’s much-anticipated Metro Line 4 has reached a major milestone as trial runs commenced on the 10-kilometre stretch between Cadbury Junction and Gaimukh. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) flagged off the first trial operations of Metro Lines 4 and 4A this week, marking a significant step toward easing chronic traffic congestion in the eastern parts of the city.

Stretching 32.32 kilometres from Wadala to Kasarvadavali, Metro Line 4 comprises 30 stations and is expected to reduce travel time by 50–75%, offering a faster and more eco-friendly alternative to private vehicles.

The Cadbury-Gaimukh section currently under trial includes 10 key stations: Cadbury, Majiwada, Kapurbawadi, Manpada, Tikuji-Ni-Wadi, Dongripada, Vijay Garden, Kasarvadavli, Gownipada, and Gaimukh. Once fully operational, Line 4 will significantly improve connectivity across Mumbai’s eastern corridor, linking residential and commercial hubs with major highways, railway stations, and upcoming metro lines.

The full list of 30 stations on Line 4 and 4A includes Bhakti Park Metro, Wadala TT, Anik Nagar Bus Depot, Siddharth Colony, Garodia Nagar, Pant Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Shreyes Cinema, Godrej Company, Vikhroli Metro, Surya Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Naval Housing, Bhandup Mahapalika, Bhandup Metro, Shangrila, Sonapur, Mulund Fire Station, Mulund Naka, Thane Teen Haath Naka, RTO Thane, Mahapalika Marg, Cadbury Junction, Majiwada, Kapurbawdi, Manpada, Tikuji-Ni-Wadi, Dongari Pada, Vijay Garden, and Kasarvadavali.

Metro Line 4 is designed to be a sustainable, low-emission transit system. MMRDA’s focus goes beyond just infrastructure—it’s about transforming how Mumbai moves. With more commuters shifting from road traffic to rail, the metro line is expected to help curb pollution, reduce road congestion, and drastically cut commute times. Each operational milestone brings Mumbai closer to a seamless, modern, and efficient urban transportation network.
