Mumbai Metro Line 11 to Feature 13 Stations from Wadala to CSMT-Gateway Stretch

Mumbai – The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has proposed a revised plan for Metro Line 11, which will now extend from Wadala to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and SPM Chowk near the Gateway of India, covering 13 underground stations.

This proposed corridor spans 16 km and aims to improve metro connectivity in South Mumbai, serving key areas such as Byculla, Nagpada, Bhendi Bazaar, Crawford Market, Fort, and Colaba.

Earlier, the route included only 10 stations—2 elevated and 8 underground—but the new alignment will be fully underground, enhancing access to crowded and high-demand locations.

The estimated cost of the project has risen to ₹16,000 crore, and the MMRC plans to begin geotechnical and utility surveys soon. Construction is expected to begin in the next few years.

If approved, Metro Line 11 will offer crucial interchanges with Metro Line 4 and the ongoing Metro Line 3 (Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ), strengthening Mumbai’s growing metro network.
