Mumbai and several parts of Maharashtra have been battered by continuous rainfall for the past 48 hours, creating flood-like conditions and widespread distress.

In light of the worsening situation, an appeal has been made to Hon’ble Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take urgent action and implement the following measures:

1. Temporary Night Shelters – Flood-affected residents who have lost shelter must be provided with immediate safe housing through government-run night shelters.

2. Evacuation from Unsafe Buildings – Families residing in old, dilapidated buildings and vulnerable slum settlements should be shifted without delay to safer places such as BMC schools and community halls.

3. Financial Support for Slum Dwellers – Low-income households, where rainwater has damaged essential goods, food, and clothing, must receive immediate financial relief from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

4. Cash Assistance for Urgent Needs – In addition to relief supplies, direct cash assistance should be provided to affected families to help them manage critical requirements during this crisis.

The appeal underlines the urgent need for swift intervention to protect lives, prevent structural collapses, and provide timely relief to thousands of distressed families across Mumbai and Maharashtra.
