Mumbai: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the Rs 390 crore mephedrone haul, Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell has seized an additional 21.903 kg of the banned drug from Powai, valued at approximately ₹44 crore. The raid was conducted in the Hiranandani area of Powai, where the contraband was hidden behind a paint storage warehouse, along with chemicals used for its production.

The operation was part of an extensive probe that began in April when a man was caught with 52 grams of mephedrone in Sakinaka. Subsequent investigations led to larger recoveries, including 187 kg of mephedrone worth ₹382 crore from Mysuru last week.

According to officials, the latest seizure also included ₹16 lakh worth of chemicals and has resulted in the arrest of eight people so far. Additionally, three more suspects were identified, leading to the recovery of another 4.5 kg of the drug valued at ₹8 crore.

With this, the total seizure in the case has risen to over 210 kg of mephedrone, worth nearly ₹435 crore. Authorities are continuing their investigation under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act to dismantle the entire drug trafficking and production network.
