Akola: In a shocking incident, an MPSC aspirant was attacked with acid and robbed by two unidentified men on the Khamgaon-Akola road in Amravati. The victim, identified as Amol Isal from Babulgav in Yavatmal district, is in critical condition and receiving treatment at a hospital.

According to reports, Amol, who is preparing for competitive exams in Amravati, had visited Shegaon in Buldhana district on Sunday. While returning, he was allegedly followed by a group of youths. On the highway, two assailants stopped him, assaulted him, stole his cash, mobile phone, and other belongings, and then threw acid on him. The attackers abandoned him by the roadside before fleeing.

Local residents rushed Amol to a hospital in Khamgaon. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was later shifted to Akola Government Hospital by Police Head Constable Gajanan Kate and his team.

Amol’s elder brother, Swapnil, suspects that his roommate may be behind the attack, citing ongoing disputes between them for the past one-and-a-half months. Police are also examining whether a love affair might be linked to the incident.

The attack has sparked fear among competitive exam students. Amol has since been moved to his hometown, Babulgav in Yavatmal, for further treatment.
