The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has launched trial operations for a significant portion of Mumbai Metro Lines 4 and 4A, spanning a 10-kilometre stretch between Cadbury Junction and Gaimukh. This trial marks a critical milestone in Mumbai’s ambitious metro expansion, targeting the highly congested eastern corridor of the city. With a total of 10 new stations now under trial—including Majiwada, Kapurbawadi, Manpada, and Tikuji-Ni-Wadi—the development promises to reshape urban mobility and drastically cut commute times by up to 75%.

The larger Metro Line 4 network covers 32.32 kilometres, connecting Wadala to Kasarvadavali across 30 stations. Once fully operational, this metro line will not only enhance connectivity but also integrate with key transportation hubs, roads, and future metro lines, encouraging a shift from personal vehicles to low-emission, efficient mass transit systems. By initiating these trial runs, the MMRDA takes a major step toward reducing traffic congestion and building a more sustainable, interconnected Mumbai.
