Mira Road : A festive Garba celebration at J.P. North Garden City Society in Mira Road on the eighth day of Navratri was disrupted when an egg was thrown at participants, causing alarm among residents and prompting police action. The incident, which was captured on video and circulated widely on social media, has sparked local outrage.
Later that evening, Maharashtra Minister Nitish Rane addressed a gathering at the site, delivering a combative speech that drew both attention and criticism. In his remarks, Rane emphasized the protection of Hindu interests, stating, “This is a Hindu nation, and here the interests of Hindus will be looked after first, and then the interests of others. This is not your father’s Pakistan, this is Hindustan.”
He further invoked religious imagery, warning, “If any Hindu mother or sister is looked at with wrong eyes here, then we know how to open our third eye. This is the land of Mahadev, and only ‘I love Mahadev’ will prevail here.”
Addressing police officers present at the event, Rane cautioned them against tarnishing the government’s reputation, saying, “I would tell the policemen here that this is Devendra Fadnavis’s Government, he has the Home Ministry, do not tarnish his name.”
Rane also named an individual identified as Mohsin and issued a direct warning: “If Mohsin is listening, then listen carefully. This is not your father’s Pakistan, this is Hindustan.” He added that he could return quickly if trouble flares again, and would not come alone.
While Rane’s speech drew strong reactions, community leaders and event organizers have called for calm, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of all festival-goers. Police have recorded statements and launched an investigation into the egg-throwing incident.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns over maintaining communal harmony during religious festivities in the region.
