MUMBAI : A minor fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday at one of Mumbai’s oldest pet shops, established in 1960, located near the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market in Crawford Market.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Disaster Management Cell, the blaze was confined to a 15 ft x 50 ft section on the ground floor of a single-storey commercial structure.
The fire damaged electrical wiring, a window AC unit, an LED television, a ceiling fan, false ceiling, CCTV camera, wooden furniture, stock of Pedigree pet food, plastic sheets, and an outdoor AC unit.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) declared a Level-I (minor) fire at 2:28 AM and swiftly mobilized teams to the site. Firefighters managed to fully extinguish the blaze by 4:00 AM after nearly two hours of operation.
No injuries or casualties were reported, officials confirmed. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
