Mumbai : One of the seven key reservoirs supplying water to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) area, the Hinduheart Emperor Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray Madhya Vaitarna Reservoir has reached approximately 90% of its full capacity.
The reservoir’s maximum storage level is 285 meters, and the current water level stands at 282.13 meters. In response to continuous rainfall, authorities opened three of the dam’s gates—Gate Nos. 1, 3, and 5—at 1:15 PM today, releasing water at a rate of 30 centimeters per gate.
At present, an outflow of 3,000 cusecs is being discharged. The released water is being directed toward the ‘Modak Sagar’ (Lower Vaitarna) reservoir for further storage and regulation.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation to manage water levels safely amid ongoing rainfall.
